David is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport. David is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (as a mediator) and is a RICS Accredited Evaluative Mediator.​

David trained in local government and subsequently worked in a commercial agency practice and an international real estate consultancy, where he became a partner, before founding Baker Rose in 1991.​

David is a consummate negotiator, with a forensic approach to achieving results, resulting in clear advocacy and practical solutions.​  

David is a Board Director of the Compulsory Purchase Association (elected 2022).  He now chairs the CPA's Working Group on Mental Health
